Linux Wheel files
Linux Wheel files
WHL files on Linux have names such as cloudcompy-2.14.0-cp310-cp310-linux_x86_64.whl or cloudcompy-2.14.0-cp310-cp310-manylinux_2_31_x86_64. whl, where 2.14.0 corresponds to the cloudComPy version, cp310 to the Python version (3.10), and linux_x86_64 to the operating system and processor architecture. The suffix manylinux_2_31 indicates that the file has been successfully validated by auditwheel repair, which is a requirement for publication on an official PyPI server and reinforces confidence in its compatibility with any Linux distribution using GLIBC version 2.31 or later. Validation by auditwheel repair is challenging due to the numerous graphics libraries involved in the package and the need to be independent of graphics cards and drivers.
The wheel files were built on Ubuntu 20.04 (GLIBC 2.31) and have been tested on Ubuntu 20.04, Ubuntu 26.04, and Fedora 44. The wheel files should work on all versions of Ubuntu starting with 20.04, and more generally on any Linux system with GLIBC version 2.31 or higher. For “manylinux” files, the minimum GLIBC version is indicated in the filename.
You may encounter some issues related to graphics libraries, as mentioned above. If you experience any problems with your setup, please create a ticket on GitHub and provide some information about your setup (operating system, version, graphics card, etc.).
